We are looking to recruit a Conveyancing Assistant for an exciting opportunity with a highly regarded firm based in Derby.
You will be responsible for assisting a Conveyancer to enable them to operate at optimum efficiency and you will be expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative and to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Opening files and accompanying procedures, to include production of confirmation of instruction letters, updating central records and the entering of entities and capacities on each new client/matter file.
2. Ensuring client work is delivered to a consistently high standard and that client files are up to date and kept in a tidy state.
3. Co-ordinating the exchange of contracts.
4. Applying for searches on purchase transactions.
5. Preparing Contract documentation for the clients to sign.
6. Preparing the accounts packages and co-ordinating completions.
7. Dealing with the post-completion work.
8. Handling incoming calls from clients, estate agents and solicitors.
9. Using initiative to progress files within the limits of his/her own ability.
10. Understanding and complying with the requirements of the SRA Accounts Rules.
11. Acting in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures of the company in respect of client confidentiality & data protection, money laundering and health & safety issues.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
1. Having an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the progress of Conveyancing matters.
2. A minimum of 18-months experience in a law firm or within a similar environment.
3. A good level of education.
4. Competent typing ability.
5. Excellent IT Skills with working knowledge of all MS applications, especially Word.
6. Excellent organisational and communication skills.
