As part of a highly enthusiastic (and growing!) team of 30+, you will play a crucial role, building relationships with a growing client portfolio and delivering their key work. This role will be exceptionally exciting to a candidate looking to make use of existing qualifications and manage their own client portfolio in a rapidly growing, innovative, and ‘modern’ business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare, send, and submit accounts & tax returns for our clients, including Sole Traders, Partnerships, and Limited Companies.
2. Communicate as required with clients via phone, email, social media, and in person, including chasing records.
3. Onboard new clients and integrate them into your portfolio – this will include bookkeeping, compliance, etc., to then be handed over to the relevant department.
4. Assess and advise clients on their tax position.
5. Optimise and plan the tax efficiency of clients as required.
6. Complete, review, and prepare bookkeeping and VAT returns where required.
7. Act as liaison between clients and HM Revenue & Customs to deal with and resolve queries as required.
8. Maintain electronic filing of books and records.
9. Manage client administration and records.
10. Participate in activities necessary to support the smooth running of the office environment.
11. Manage and maintain your professional development and learning.
12. Provide excellent client care both on the phone and in person, delivering reports and updates. This will include answering incoming calls, greeting clients, and welcoming them into the office, offering them refreshments, and showing them in and out of the building.
13. Carry out relevant CPD required by your professional body.
14. Ensure and update HMRC/Companies House statutory information is accurate.
15. Attend networking events where required.
16. Prepare and execute year-end client meetings as required.
17. Internal and external training e.g., client bookkeeping training and as applicable as per our company values.
18. Ensure all internal and statutory deadlines are met e.g. – HMRC, SLA, etc.
19. Carry out client fee reviews.
Minimum Requirements
1. Must be able to prepare accounts & tax returns for clients, including Sole Traders, Partnerships, and Limited Companies.
2. Must hold membership to a professional body (does not need to be a chartered body).
3. Be confident in providing direct advice to clients. Sound tax knowledge is a must.
4. Be an effective communicator, able to communicate at all levels both internally and externally.
5. Experience working in accounting practice within the past 2 years, and at least 3 years accounting practice experience.
6. Good standard of verbal and written English.
7. Proficient IT skills (Excel & Word essential).
8. A sound working knowledge of QuickBooks and Xero (desirable).
