Job Advertisement: Contracts Surveyor Location : Cambridge Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Surveyor to join a dynamic and growing team. In this role, the successful candidate will ensure that projects are commercially controlled and delivered to the highest standards, meeting client requirements and aligning with the company's ethos for excellence. The position reports directly to the Commercial Manager and involves working collaboratively within a team to deliver projects from pre-contract stages through to the end of the defects period. Typical project values are approximately £3 million, with the range generally between £1 million and £6 million. Role Responsibilities The Contracts Surveyor will be responsible for: Ensuring commercial oversight and delivering projects effectively while managing costs and monitoring contract performance across multiple projects. Supporting and mentoring junior staff. Communicating and influencing stakeholders at all levels. Preparing cash flow forecasts, applications, and comprehensive reports for project durations. Reviewing sub-contract orders, ensuring compliance and best value procurement. Capturing and valuing project variations in line with sub-contract terms. Managing costs using procurement systems and updating buying schedules. Drafting robust sub-contract and principal plant orders, detailing the required scope of works. Reviewing and processing sub-contractor payment applications, issuing notices as required. Completing monthly project cost forecasts, CVRs, and trading reviews. Compiling detailed Extension of Time (EOT) submissions with supporting information. Assisting operational teams with project account management. Key Skills & Knowledge To succeed in this role, candidates will need: At least three years’ experience in a commercial or pre-construction role. Proficiency in JCT and NEC suite of contracts. A professionally qualified CSCS card (or eligibility). Competence in Microsoft Office applications and system databases. A full, clean driving licence. Desirable Skills and Qualifications Training or background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing disciplines. HNC or HND in building services. Formal academic training in Quantity Surveying.
