Job Description
Milberg London was established in 2020 as an independent law firm focused exclusively on claimant litigation. Our partners have all previously worked at Jones Day, Freshfields, Pinsent Masons, Dechert, Clyde & Co, Paul Hastings and Mishcon de Reya over the last 15 years before establishing their own firm. We specialise in large-scale consumer group actions against corporate defendants. We are looking to expand our Competition Litigation practice and are seeking to recruit an exceptionally bright senior competition associate to join our London team and work with partner and head of the practice, Natasha Pearman.
The Competition Litigation practice is focusing on collective actions regarding abuse of dominance, cartel damages, and other antitrust litigation in the UK courts and Competition Appeal Tribunal and coordinating competition litigation on a worldwide basis. In November 2023, our case against Sony was the first consumer claim of its kind to achieve certification for its funding arrangements in light of the recent Supreme Court ruling in the PACCAR case.
Milberg is acting on the highest profile, and most cutting edge, collective action matters in the UK and this is an exciting opportunity to join a fun and entrepreneurial team. We are a young, ambitious, dynamic team and there is scope for the right person to grow with the business at their own pace and operate outside the confines of a traditionally structured law firm team.
We are keen to find a candidate who inspires trust and confidence, is pro-active, resilient and has all the qualities to become an integral member of our team and support Natasha at the senior end of cases.
The ideal candidate will:
* Have at least 5 years PQE in competition litigation at a leading law firm
* Be intellectually strong with top class academics
* Have experience of managing junior associates and paralegals
* Be comfortable working as part of a small team and keen to take on a role which provides a considerable level of responsibility
* Have a solid background and experience in UK and EU competition law
* Have direct experience of cases before the Competition Appeal Tribunal
* Have excellent communication and drafting skills – the ability to communicate succinctly is a must
