Join an organisation dedicated to providing essential services and community support for residents, businesses, and visitors. We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Allocations & Lettings Officer to join our team in Ilford.
As an Allocations & Lettings Officer, you will play a key role in assisting individuals and families facing housing challenges. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that we meet the legal requirements of housing allocations, while providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess eligibility and suitability for housing by conducting interviews and verifying circumstances.
* Coordinate the advertising of void properties and allocate permanent homes in line with the Housing Allocations Scheme.
* Provide comprehensive advice on housing options, including mobility schemes, to help customers achieve positive housing outcomes.
* Manage the placement processes for temporary accommodation, ensuring effective support for those at risk of homelessness.
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practises.
* Collaborate with various stakeholders, including social services and external agencies, to develop effective housing solutions.
What You Bring:
* In-depth knowledge of housing law, particularly the Housing Act 1996, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, the Children Act, and the Care Act.
* Familiarity with welfare benefits and the impact of the Welfare Reform Act on housing allocations.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively with customers, advocating for their needs and finding innovative solutions to housing problems.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
* Excellent record-keeping and IT skills to maintain accurate customer data and reporting.
Qualifications:
* Relevant experience in housing allocations or a similar customer-focused environment.
* A good understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable customers in accessing housing.
* Flexibility in problem-solving and the ability to work unsupervised.
