Principle Pharmacy Technician - Dispensary Services

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed pharmacy technician to provide leadership and co-ordination of the dispensary pharmacy service. This is a substantive role which has a major contribution to the management of medicines and the welfare of patients and the efficiency of the organisation.
You will need to be an experienced pharmacy technician, with a relevant pharmaceutical qualification and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Main duties of the job
1. To provide senior leadership in the provision of pharmacy services to University Hospitals Sussex.
2. Co-ordinate and support the training and development of trainee pharmacists and pre-registration pharmacy technicians with respect to dispensary services.
3. Provide leadership and management of staff, processes, procedures and workload/workforce planning and development of the dispensary services.
4. Ensure patients and staff receive excellent service and medications are dispensed in a safe and efficient manner which meets set KPIs.
5. Manage risks, errors and near misses in the various dispensary environments, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated. Co-ordinate and lead on investigations and outcomes to incidents, errors and complaints received regarding the dispensary environments.
6. Continuously contribute to service improvements.
Job responsibilities
To provide senior leadership in the provision of dispensary services at Princess Royal Hospital site. You will co-ordinate, delegate duties and manage staff in the delivery of the safe and effective running of dispensary services ensuring compliance with legal and professional requirements as specified by Statute, regulatory and professional bodies.

Person Specification
* NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
* Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Training experience at PS and/or ES level, NVQ assessor
* Dispensary training experience
* Experience of training other members of pharmacy or Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT)
* Implement changes to pharmacy services.
* Write and/or implement SOPs
* IT skills eg Word processing, excel for audit and financial report
* Experience of supervising pharmacy staff within a pharmacy dispensary setting or at ward level
* Daily management of staff and HR policies and processes.
* Nationally accredited for medicines management, i.e. MOPs or AIMMs
* Educational/practice supervisor for MM and ACPT
* Educational/practice supervisor for NVQ 2 & 3 assistants and technicians
* Proven ability in MDT working
* Evaluate data from audits, make recommendations for service improvement and communicate findings (verbally and written report)
* Document and report savings plans for the divisions
* Experience of Recruitment and Selection process for pharmacy staff

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year per annum pro rata
