We are seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Salisbury from April 2025. About the School This new educational setting provides full-time education, care, and therapeutic support for students aged 4 to 19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With a strong focus on creating a safe, happy, and engaging learning environment, the school offers a tailored curriculum and specialist facilities. The school operates from 8:15 am to 3:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Your Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide personalised support to students based on their individual needs and learning styles. Promote emotional and social well-being, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Work alongside teachers to support inclusivity, track progress, and boost self-esteem. Help students engage with learning through creative and tailored approaches. Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns. Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists, to enhance student development. What We’re Looking For To thrive in this role, you should: Have experience supporting children or adults with special needs. Be comfortable assisting with personal care when required. Hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent). Be adaptable and able to support a variety of learning styles. Be a patient, caring, and empathetic individual. Have excellent communication and listening skills. Remain calm under pressure, ensuring students feel safe and supported. Requirements An enhanced DBS check (as you will be working with children).
