The Role:
As a Principal or Associate Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in managing and leading a small team of skilled engineers. You will take charge of overseeing civil engineering projects from start to finish, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Alongside technical management, you will also contribute to the business's development by fostering client relationships and identifying new opportunities. Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage a small team of civil engineers, providing mentorship and guidance.
2. Oversee a variety of civil engineering projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and in accordance with industry standards.
3. Manage client relationships, acting as the key point of contact and maintaining strong, professional relationships.
4. Provide technical expertise in civil engineering design, including highways, drainage, and infrastructure projects.
5. Contribute to business development by identifying potential new projects and assisting in bids and tenders.
6. Ensure projects adhere to health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
7. Manage budgets, timelines, and resources effectively across multiple projects.
8. Attend client meetings, site visits, and liaise with local authorities as required.
9. Assist in the growth and development of the civil engineering department by leading on key projects and developing new client relationships.
Skills and Experience Required:
1. 8+ years of experience in civil engineering, with ideally at least 3 years in a management or leadership role Senior/Principal role.
2. Proven track record in managing civil engineering projects, including highways, drainage, and infrastructure design.
3. Chartered Engineer status (ICE or equivalent) or working towards chartership.
4. Strong knowledge of relevant software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage.
5. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring junior engineers.
6. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver them to a high standard.
7. Strong communication skills, with experience in client-facing roles.
8. Full UK driving license is essential.
