Milton Keynes College Prison Services Team at HMP Erlestoke are seeking innovative Multi Skilled Construction Tutor to deliver to a diverse group of learners, helping to build their confidence, develop their skills and achieve within a college environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of trade skills, helping learners to develop practical abilities that will aid their rehabilitation and improve their employment prospects upon release. Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in construction subjects such as painting and decorating and at least one of the following - plumbing, brickwork, and general maintenance Assess learners’ needs and provide individualized support to help them achieve their learning goals. Develop and adapt teaching materials to meet the diverse needs of learners. Monitor/Record learners’ progress, providing regular feedback and support. Collaborate with staff and educators to support the overall educational program. Qualifications and Experience: Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent) or willing to work towards. Construction qualifications and experience in painting and decorating and at least one of the following - plumbing, brickwork, and general maintenance. Ability to motivate and inspire learners from diverse backgrounds. The prison is built on the former grounds of Erlestoke Manor House and has expanded in both offender numbers and intervention programmes. HMP Erlestoke’s focus is firmly fixed on reducing re-offending and preventing future victims of crime by preparing offenders for their release through accredited intervention programmes, skill and vocational based training and education, in a pro-social environment. Courses at HMP Erlestoke include Maths, English, IT, Horticulture, Carpentry, Cleaning and Support Services, Hospitality, Creative Craft, Customer Service, Team Leading, Learning Support and much more. The education delivery hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 11.30am, 2.00pm – 4.30pm and on Fridays 8.30am – 11.30am. Erlestoke staff and learners get involved with various projects each year. In 24/25 Erlestoke held an archaeological dig and a two week Arts festival “ Penned Up “ giving learners the opportunity to hear from authors refreshing attitudes ,thinking and developing a focus on reading. Erlestoke issues an internal magazine highlighting various events, projects and support alongside articles, interviews and shared experiences as well as promoting well-being and education.
