Job Advertisement: Building Envelope Specialist
We are currently seeking a Building Envelope Specialist to join our team of senior professionals engaged in Due Diligence and Latent Defects Insurance Technical Audits. This role offers the opportunity to work on prestigious new developments in London, assessing both structural and building envelope elements. While prior experience in technical audits is beneficial, the key requirement is broad expertise in cladding systems across different building types, ideally spanning both design and construction.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and inspecting building envelope systems across a variety of projects. You will need flexibility to travel locally, nationally, and internationally to meet client needs. This role requires working closely with clients, offering expert advice on a day-to-day basis.
We welcome applications from individuals with engineering or architectural backgrounds, either from consultancy or contracting environments, who can demonstrate strong design and construction experience in this specialized field.
Responsibilities
Review and inspect building envelope systems across a range of building types.
Work closely with clients, providing expert technical advice.
Travel to project locations as required to meet client and project demands.
Prepare detailed technical reports with clarity and precision.
Collaborate with a specialized team of structural engineers and architects.
Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and best practices for building envelopes.
Requirements
Experience in the design and construction of building envelope systems, from concept through to completion.
Knowledge of cladding systems, including framing, gaskets, insulants, vapour barriers, and membranes.
Familiarity with a broad range of materials, including Aluminium, Steel, Timber, GRP, PVC, ETFE, and others.
Experience with coatings and protective systems.
Understanding of building interfaces, tolerances, ventilation, and bespoke design considerations.
Expertise in maintenance, testing, and repair of cladding systems.
Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with clients.
Proven experience in client-facing roles and the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
Comprehensive knowledge of regulations and industry standards.
Report writing expertise with the ability to convey complex technical details clearly.Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience in Due Diligence or Latent Defects Insurance roles.
Expert Witness experience.
