The role This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced or aspiring Engineering Manager to work within the Raytheon Advanced Products Engineering team in the delivery of complex and high-profile programmes. As a result of the expansion of our Control Actuator Systems projects, the product test development group is rapidly growing and therefore we are looking for a highly motivated Programme Engineering Manager to support and steer the team, with a sound background in engineering product development and delivery, programme tracking and reporting. This role is focussed on cross functional team and task development and will report into the Raytheon UK Engineering Services Manager. Main Duties: As a key IPT (Integrated Programme Team) member for engineering for one or more of our projects, your main duties would include - Engineering Leadership for a small, multi located and hybrid (onsite / offsite) team, leading them through the design, development and introduction to production of a number of Control Actuator systems test system projects. - Generation / Coordination of the engineering development plans, execution against Raytheon's standards and gating model, and aligned to the overall Programme's needs from early bid phase through to final delivery - Work package management for the team and reporting of key performance indicators for the work to be performed, working collaboratively with the rest of the Integrated Programme Team. - External first point of contact and liaison for key internal and external customer organisations, it expected that this role will require travel to our customers site(s) in the USA. - Close liaison with Test Development team leader and Project Design Authority (DA) to ensure technical integrity of programmes Risk and Change Management for all engineering deliverables, including effective planning, mitigations and monitoring to reduction of risk or closure - Management and delivery adherence to the programme baseline schedule and budget, using 'earned value' techniques. - This role will, initially, be an individual contributor however as the team and projects grow there may be the need for line management of engineering teams. Candidate Requirements: - Extensive experience in engineering project management and guidance of multidiscipline, high-performance teams (cross-functional experience highly desirable) - Full understanding of product development lifecycles, and lifecycle management, including planning and reporting requirements - Good understanding of Engineering budget, ideally utilising Earned Value Techniques - Experience in utilising work package management systems and reporting eg MS Project - Demonstrated competency for strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management. - Demonstrated competency in relating efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems. - Proven ability to work independently, as well as a member of a team and ability to advise programme teams and stakeholders. - Broad based technical background with experience in product engineering design and integration. - BSc / BEng. in Engineering, Science - Eligibility to obtain SC Clearance Desirable: - Experience within UK/US International defence industry or similar adjacent industry - Experience of automated test equipment (ATE), test development processes, instrumentation and software - Experience with the use of National Instruments Labview/Teststand - Understanding of actuator systems, gearboxes and associated control systems.
