We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Finance Assistant to join our rapidly growing telematics company, Global Telemetrics, based in Coalville. Known for our proven and award-winning stolen vehicle tracking brands, such as SmarTrack and Autowatch UK, we pride ourselves on delivering top-tier service and innovative solutions.
The Finance Assistant will provide essential support to the Head of Finance and the Finance Department. This role involves handling a range of financial and administrative tasks with accuracy, supporting the finance team in meeting tight deadlines, and maintaining up-to-date records. The ideal candidate will be proactive, eager to tackle challenges, and contribute to process improvements in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment. Flexibility and a solution-oriented mindset are key to thriving in this dynamic, hands-on finance department.
Key responsibilities:
1. Data management
o Input data into relevant systems accurately and promptly.
o Maintain accurate and detailed customer records.
o Ensure new customer accounts are created and updated as required.
2. Financial transactions
o Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
o Collect monthly direct debits and process payments.
o Raise sales invoices and ensure income records are up-to-date.
o Prepare and enter journals into the financial system.
3. Reporting and analysis
o Support the preparation of management accounts and month-end duties.
o Provide timely and accurate financial information to the Head of Finance.
o Assist with reporting on departmental deadlines and progress.
4. Client and stakeholder communication
o Build a good rapport with clients and address queries promptly.
o Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve income-related queries effectively.
o Escalate more complex financial queries to the Head of Finance as necessary.
5. Administrative support
o Manage administrative tasks such as correspondence, filing, and printing.
o Ensure departmental deadlines are met efficiently.
o Support general day-to-day financial operations as required.
6. Continuous improvement
o Identify and support areas for improvement within the Finance Department.
o Seek professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Key requirements and skills:
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to input and manage data accurately.
* Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Good communication skills for liaising with clients and internal stakeholders.
* Proactive problem-solving approach and commitment to process improvement.
* IT literate, with experience in cloud-based tools such as Google Workspace or similar.
* Demonstrated expertise in managing finance-related tasks with precision and efficiency.
* A basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
* Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience with Xero preferred although not a must.
* High level of discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
* Comfortable working in a dynamic and evolving environment, willing to take on new challenges.
* Ability to work effectively within a small team, contributing to department goals.
