Job Summary
Our Cardiac Diagnostic service is looking to recruit a full time Band 3 Cardiac Bookings Clerk, to act as a point of contact for patients entering our service whether face-to-face, via phone, or via email.
You will become part of a fun and friendly team who provide administrative support for the Cardiology team by, among other tasks, answering calls, responding to emails, and assisting with troubleshooting queries. You will also process incoming referrals, book appointments, and communicate with patients, healthcare providers and other departments within the hospital on a daily basis.

Main duties of the job
Your role is to ensure referrals are received and dealt with in a timely manner. This will include all referrals for Cardiac diagnostic test clinic from GPs and Consultants, to monitor clinic standards, in particular data quality, customer service and patient confidentiality adhering to the Trust guidelines. You will respond to patient questions, concerns and complaints, resolving issues at a local level where appropriate and escalating them where necessary.
You will be required to understand and act in accordance with the Trust's 18 week, 6 week diagnostic and Cancer Access policies, to act as a point of contact between GP/Patient and the Cardiac physiology service ensuring that all information is available in time for the sub speciality clinics/GP appointments and to liaise with patients with a history of non-attendance prior to attending clinic to confirm they will be attending.
Your role will involve raising and escalating concerns regarding waiting times when necessary, working in a multi-disciplinary team environment, liaising with clerical, medical, physiologists and nursing staff on relevant issues and to co-ordinate clinical and administrative resources during clinics and subsequent addition to waiting list and scheduling of surgical procedures and dealing with any enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner to ensure that patients and visitors feel welcome and well informed.
