Key Responsibilities
The Associate Scientist will conduct experimental investigations using IHC or IF to analyse clinical trial and non-clinical tissue samples, with supervision and guidance from colleagues and managers, enabling the advancement of the Company pipeline, process, or technology capabilities.
1. Experiments: running pre-established experimental investigations, with guidance from line managers, a mentor or colleagues.
2. Priorities: working to agreed experimental priorities and deadlines; raising issues or concerns with managers or colleagues so that these can be addressed.
3. Technical knowledge: actively developing own knowledge, drawing on the experience of others and self-learning.
4. Laboratory records: Ensuring that all records and data are up to date, on time and recorded to the correct standard, checking with a mentor or colleagues if unsure.
5. Laboratory equipment: attending training on the use of technical instruments, using equipment appropriately, correctly and tidily.
6. Health & Safety: compliance with all H&S requirements, attending appropriate training programmes.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Performing Immunohistochemical analysis on patient samples from clinical trials using previously established assays.
2. Performing Singleplex or Multiplex Immunofluorescence assays on patient samples from clinical trials, following previously established protocols.
3. Performing experimental procedures, equipment maintenance and keeping experimental and maintenance records in accordance with HTA/GCP standards as relevant.
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
1. Background in immunology and/or cancer biology.
2. Experience in the following techniques:
* Tissue sectioning with microtome and/or cryostat.
* Histology (H&E staining and/or other special stains).
* Immunohistochemistry (manual and/or autostainers).
1. Worked as an experimental scientist with expertise in relevant immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) assays to analyse human samples.
2. Recorded results and information in a concise, accurate and timely way as part of studies or in a work environment.
3. Learnt about new practices based through observation, self-learning and an enquiring mind.
4. Basic competence in Microsoft office package such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
Desirable
1. Worked in a diverse team environment.
2. Experience with immuno-pathology.
3. Experience analysing clinical trial samples with IHC or IF based biomarkers.
4. Experience working with patient samples from clinical trials.
5. Experience in a GCP-regulated environment, following SOPs and Analytical Plans.
6. Experience with HTA regulation.
7. Experience in some of the following techniques:
* FFPE and frozen sample preparation.
* Use of microscope and Digital image acquisition.
* Digital image analysis.
* RNA in situ hybridization, multiplex IHC/IF.

Education & Qualifications
BSc. Or MSc. in Biological Sciences, Oncology, Immunology or other related discipline
