Your day-to-day duties will include: Performing day-to-day maintenance tasks within the College buildings and College accommodation as directed; completing all job requests and reports in a timely manner. Assisting College tradesmen with both planned and reactive maintenance tasks as a ‘second pair of hands’. Assist other departmental members with a wide variety of maintenance and minor repairs as required. Carry out department tests, including weekly fire alarm testing and monthly emergency light/CO2/refuge alarm testing. To be considered for this interesting role, you will need to bring: General awareness and training in Manual Handling and Health & Safety at work A flexible approach to work and tasks and confidence in performing tasks with minimal supervision Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels The ideal candidate will have A recognised and relevant qualification e.g. through Apprenticeship or achievement of an NVQ and have a good understanding of carpentry, plumbing and general maintenance works however these are not essential. A full induction and training will be provided. Details of the role The post of Multi-skilled Operative is a permanent, full-time role. Applications are invited from suitably experienced candidates. Hours of work are 8 hours per day (with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break), starting between 7.30 am and 8.00 am usually Monday to Friday. Weekend work will be required between June and October, exact dates are confirmed in advance. When working weekends, your days off with be scheduled in the week. The annual salary is £28,345 per annum for 40 hours per week (Step 30 on the College Salary Scale).
