Due to our ongoing success and planned strategic growth, we're expanding our Northern Team. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Development Planner to join our dynamic team in our new, modern Leeds office.
The role
As a Senior Development Planner, you will play a crucial role in managing and promoting our strategic land cycle, from identification through to sale. We are looking for someone who has lots of energy, drive, and ambition; someone who can work productively with consultants, landowners, and local planning authorities to deliver results and meet deadlines. You’ll need to have the ability to communicate clearly with individuals at all levels, strong management skills, the ability to prioritise, and great negotiation and networking skills.
Key responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage the planning and promotion of strategic land projects.
2. Conduct thorough site appraisals and feasibility studies.
3. Prepare and submit planning applications and appeals.
4. Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and consultants.
5. Monitor and influence local planning policies and frameworks.
6. Provide expert advice on planning and development matters.
7. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
8. Identify and appraise potential development sites.
9. Manage key projects throughout the promotion process.
10. Prepare submissions and reports for landowners, agents, and internal teams.
11. Foster strong relationships with consultants, local authorities, and landowners.
Qualifications and skills:
1. Degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field.
2. Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or equivalent.
3. Experience in a similar role, preferably within the private sector.
4. Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and policy.
5. Proven track record of successfully managing planning applications and appeals.
6. Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and project management skills.
7. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively.
8. Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
