Owing to the expansion of our Environment and Water portfolio, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor. The successful applicant will exhibit a keen enthusiasm for collaborating with our client teams to ensure the successful delivery of their complex projects on schedule, within budget, and to high-quality standards, while upholding a strong commitment to safety. This exceptional opportunity provides the successful candidate with exposure to complex infrastructure projects in the UK.
What you will contribute to the team:
1. Manage the pre-contract tender process including tender assessment and queries and issue the contract award recommendation report.
2. Ensuring robust estimates are provided that are aligned to scope and make allowance for all risks.
3. Managing commercial inputs to the procurement process including ensuring that strategies are developed and agreed.
4. Contracts are properly managed and administered in accordance with contract requirements including compliance with all responses to communications, payments, compensation events and programme submissions etc.
5. Ensuring robust budget and cost management is always undertaken, taking a proactive approach, providing solutions with a ‘can do’ attitude.
6. Ownership of accurate commercial reporting.
7. Proactive management of project and programme risk including ensuring that mitigation plans are in place and implemented.
8. Development of strong client relationships across its organisation.
Required for the position Senior Quantity Surveyor
1. Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent in the relevant subject.
2. Have NEC3 or 4 ECC main Option A, C or E extensive experience for project delivery, administration and management.
3. Demonstrable understanding and practical application of the NEC3 or 4 ECC main Option A, C or E.
4. Chartered Surveyor (MRICS).
5. Commercially managed and delivered post-contract projects from contract award to final account, e.g. budget and price control, forecast to complete, payment assessments and compensation events.
6. Experience of a contract management software, such as CEMAR.
7. Travel to and work in the client’s office(s) in Cumbria.
8. NEC3 or 4 ECC accredited Project Manager.
9. A knowledge and expertise in the water/wastewater industry sector including the Water Industry Act 1991 and the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 section 84.
10. Make well reasoned, sound and timely decisions based on the needs of the situation, the clients and the team members.
11. Pre-contract tendering experience on the NEC3 or 4 ECC.

The Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers management services in all the sectors that Mott MacDonald operate in the Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation and, Education, Health and Care.
Our environment and water portfolio is primarily a UK based business delivering project, programme and commercial management services to regulated water/wastewater clients and the Environment Agency. Our work stretches across the entire project lifecycle, from pre-contract cost estimating and benchmarking to post contract QS services and commercial assurance. For project and programme management we deliver capital projects on behalf of our clients, both internal and external that range from several hundred thousand pounds in value to major projects and programmes worth over £0.5 billion. Additionally, we are the home of the cost intelligence service, a specialist team of data analysts and economists who provide expert advice across all sectors on inflation and indexation. We currently work with around half of the UK’s regulated water and wastewater companies.
