Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Job Working Pattern: Days, 5:30 AM - 2 PM, 40-hour week, Monday to Friday
Location: Castle Donnington area
Type: Permanent
Industry: SME General Manufacturing site with a rich history
Working Onsite: Within a small engineering team
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide effective and efficient planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance to minimize losses to production.
2. Ensure continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through a safe and logical approach to fault finding and maintenance of equipment.
3. Perform planned and reactive maintenance to keep downtime to a minimum.
4. Work with a variety of process and manufacturing machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and general mechanical fitting.
5. Conduct fault-finding to fabrication.
6. Lead electrical and instrumentation repair, and work with CMMS.
7. Diagnose, resolve, and eliminate root causes of mechanical engineering faults.
8. Implement minor equipment modifications in support of increased performance.
9. Complete all scheduled, planned corrective, reactive, and improvement maintenance as allocated.
10. Contribute to the planning and implementation of allocated annual equipment overhauls.
Qualifications & Requirements:
1. Apprentice trained or NVQ level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline in maintenance engineering.
2. Experience in plastics, process, CNC, tooling, or general manufacturing is ideal.
3. Manufacturing industry experience in heavy, medium, or FMCG environments considered; focus on transferable skills and culture fit.
4. Knowledge of conveyor belts, drives, gearboxes, and couplings; general mechanical equipment.
5. Essential knowledge of hydraulic & pneumatic systems.
6. Understanding of routine preventative maintenance and PPM schedules.
7. Ability to find and fix faults quickly and effectively.
8. Basic welding and fabrication skills are advantageous.
9. Fitting, fabricating, and welding experience preferred.
10. A proactive approach to fault finding and a commitment to continuous improvement and personal development.
