Senior Design Manager (Electrical) - Hertfordshire – £95k + Fantastic Package
We are currently seeking an ambitious and skilled Design Manager (Electrical bias) to join one of the UK’s leading contractors based in Hertfordshire.
We are currently working closely with their building services division and we are looking for a Senior Design Manager (Electrical) to join the team to lead effectively and professionally the management of electrical systems. The scope will span operations in their new construction business as well as within their Capital Works projects in their facilities management portfolio in the following sectors: commercial, healthcare, education, council and defence.
The ideal individual will be the subject matter expert within the electrical discipline and will hold responsibility as one of the Authorised Design Managers for Building Services. This includes the review and implementation of internal policies as well as ensuring that statutory requirements are adhered to.
The Role
* Lead Electrical Design Management for their MEP and FM Capital Works projects.
* Ensure Principal Contractor and Principal Designer commitments under the building
* Safety Act are met across their MEP construction and Facility Management Capital Works
* projects.
* Act as building services Authorised Design Manager as required by BU governance. This
* includes determining the Design Responsibilities (BSRIA BG6) and Project Team
* responsibilities (RACI).
* Support tender applications and PCSA periods. Act as a focal point to disseminate
* lessons learned from other projects and encourage standardisation of approaches.
* Ensure all our clients minimum standards are met at the design stages.
* Add value to the design process by challenging solutions, methods and techniques
* where appropriate to improve build ability and reduce whole life costs.
* Co-ordinate design reviews with other subject matter experts in OE/Enviro/H&S/CDM/Fire etc
* Promote effective Design Management processes and use of CDE platforms through
* design stages and project delivery.
* Review and score MEP and FM design consultant performances across projects
* Lead on internal CPD events to increase technical knowledge within the business.
* Regularly inspect works for compliance with design & legislative requirements and
* report on progress, ensuring remedial action is taken within agreed timelines.
What you will achieve
* Development and implement Design Management processes to increase design control
* Attendance to our clients contracts in person to build relationships and offer support
* design reviews.
* Central reporting of risk, progress and performance of projects designs.
* Training provision to project teams.
* Support Technical Team and work closely with Senior Technical Manager who holds
* Electrical Duty Holder role.
Requirements
* Expert understanding and experience of Design Management
* Expert understanding and experience in BS 7671 18th Edition
* Good understanding of Building Safety Act
* Good Understanding of Building Regulations
* Working Knowledge of HTM 06
* Working knowledge of JSP
* Comfortable with handling data in excel and powerBI
* Experience working with SharePoint applications including automation and dashboarding.
* Beneficial if individual is chartered or working towards chartership
