Maintenance Assistant
Location: Glendon Wood Hospital, Kettering
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Full-time
Salary: Depending on experience + Benefits
Summary:
Our brand new state-of-the-art day case hospital is located in Glendon, Kettering. This new facility is an extension of the services delivered by the nearby Woodland Hospital. The hospital has two operating theatres, a purpose built Endoscopy unit, 8 out- patient consultation rooms, a treatment room for minor surgery, out- patients physiotherapy as well as a full imaging unit consisting of MRI & CT scanners, USS, Mammography and X-ray facilities.
We also have car parking for 103 cars, 10 disabled parking bays and 10 EV charging points.
The role:
We have a great new opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Glendon Wood Hospital, based in Kettering. The Hospital Engineer will report into the Maintenance Manager. You will join a small team of engineers supporting the delivery of engineering and maintenance services for the hospital and its sister site Glendon Wood Hospital.
Duties will include:
* Assist the engineering team with pre planned maintenance checks of the hospital to ensure smooth running of the hospital. Training will be provided onsite and you will be expected to carry out some task on your own.
* Help ensure that PPM records and action plans are kept up to date reporting any irregular findings to the manager.
* Carry out reactive maintenance works and assist engineers where necessary.
* General DIY tasks including painting, assembling furniture, room use changes and assisting engineers with plumbing, electrical and other vital tasks.
* Assist with carrying out compliance testing.
* Be part of an on-call service to ensure hospital facilities are maintained.
* Work collaboratively with Engineer colleagues across other hospitals.
* Pre planned maintenance of plant
* Ad hoc repairs to site
* Escorting contractors on site
Skills and Attributes:
* Basis tradesman/DIY skills ideally in electrical, plumbing and/or heating services.
* Basic computer skills especially MS Office Word & Excel. (desirable)
* Ideally facilities maintenance experience
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
* Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business, including on call cover
* Routine minor painting and decorating skills.
* Some knowledge of IT cabling/socket installation and fault finding. (desirable)
