Tax Accountant

PING Europe, based in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, assembles and distributes golf equipment to the UK, Ireland, Europe, Iceland, South Africa and the Middle East. The European headquarters employs over 250 people in a range of different functions, including manufacturing, operations, marketing, sales and finance. The company also has an apparel design office, based in Cheadle, Cheshire, and is the proprietor of Thonock Park Golf Club, also in Gainsborough.
A great opportunity has arisen to join the PING Finance team as a Tax Accountant, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for all the tax matters in the UK and Europe. This includes VAT, payroll taxes in the UK and Europe, UK Corporation tax, including R&D and Capital Allowance claims, and PSA declarations. A key element of the role will involve the Tax Accountant working with the Finance Manager to ensure the tax accounts are reconciled monthly and recorded correctly by the accounting system.
The role is based at our head office in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.
Key responsibilities:
* Reconcile all tax and pension accounts monthly and take ownership for tax matters in the UK and Europe.
* Assist with preparing monthly accounts, including meeting deadlines and ensuring financial practices and records comply with the applicable accounting standards.
* Maintain and update a good working knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including new filing practices, deadlines and any company-specific information.
* Prepare tax accruals for the Company records and accounts, whilst ensuring that the accounting system is accounting for tax correctly.
* Complete VAT returns in the UK and coordinate the reporting and reconciling of VAT returns with our Tax Consultants in Europe.
* Management of duty declarations, including the transfers in and out of the bonded warehouse and ensuring these are declared and reported correctly, along with maintaining our AEO status.
* Collaborate with other departments to understand business practices and new projects and communicate the tax implications of all business practices to senior company managers.
* Working in the Finance team to support the monthly accounts preparation.
* Be the main point of contact for HMRC audits and spot visits and lead the regular internal tax audit compliance checks.
* Prepare the Company PSA and UK Corporation tax returns.
* Any other duties that help support the wider Finance team.
Essential qualifications and experience:
* Degree educated is preferable.
* Accounting qualification would be an advantage.
* Tax experience is essential.
Personal qualities and skills:
* A high level of numeracy.
* Strong interpersonal, relational and communication skills.
* A good knowledge of business process, with the ability to document changes when required.
* Be self-motivated and flexible, with good personal organisation.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
