AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support. Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications.
AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its No. 1 Helicopter Flying school (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).
Description/Overall purpose of the Job
Joining the Compliance team based at AHUK Oxford.
As part of this role, you must be willing to travel to all AHUK sites across the UK to provide on-site compliance support and ensure standardization across locations.
The Compliance Investigator plays a critical role in maintaining regulatory and operational compliance within the Helicopter Maintenance Repair Organization (MRO). This position is responsible for conducting in-depth investigations into compliance-related issues, identifying root causes, and driving corrective and preventive actions. The role ensures that operational practices align with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
Main Responsibilities
Compliance Investigations & Root Cause Analysis:
* Conduct thorough investigations into compliance-related incidents, discrepancies, and safety concerns.
* Conduct MEDA investigations into compliance-related incidents, discrepancies, and safety concerns when required.
* Utilize Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies, such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and Fault Tree Analysis, to determine underlying issues.
* Identify Human Factor and Human Performance issues.
* Identify trends and systemic issues, ensuring sustainable corrective actions are implemented.
Regulatory & Quality Assurance:
* Ensure adherence to UK CAA /EASA Part 145, UK CAA/EASA Part CAMO, UK CAA/EASA Part 21 G, MAA MRP145/MIL CAMO and company-specific MRO compliance standards.
* Work closely with Quality Assurance teams to develop and maintain effective audit and inspection processes.
* Support regulatory audits and coordinate responses to findings, ensuring timely resolution of non-conformances.
Process Improvement & Risk Mitigation:
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve maintenance procedures and operational efficiency.
* Recommend and implement risk mitigation strategies based on investigation findings.
* Promote best practices in safety, human factors, and compliance monitoring within the organization.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:
* Provide detailed investigation reports with recommendations to senior management and regulatory bodies.
* Engage with maintenance, engineering, production and safety teams to enhance compliance awareness and proactive risk management.
* Maintain investigation records and ensure continuous tracking of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Knowledge & Skills
Essential:
* Proven experience in compliance investigations within an aviation maintenance organisation, or aerospace environment.
* Strong expertise in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and problem-solving methodologies.
* In-depth knowledge of EASA Part 145, UK CAA regulations, and industry safety standards.
* Knowledge of Human factors principles, including Human performance and limitations.
* Ability to analyze technical documentation, maintenance records, and regulatory requirements.
* Experience in conducting audits and inspections within a maintenance organization.
* Excellent report writing, analytical, and presentation skills.
* Proficiency in compliance monitoring tools, quality management systems (QMS), and data analysis software.
Desirable:
* Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
* Experience in MEDA investigations.
* Knowledge of UK CAA/EASA Part CAMO and Part 21 G regulations, and industry safety standards.
* Knowledge of Military Aviation Authority (MAA) regulations, MRP 145, MIL CAMO and industry safety standards.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS 9100 Aviation standards.
* Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders, from technicians to senior leadership.
Education, Qualifications & Training
Essential:
* Formal training in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and investigative techniques.
* Security Clearance (SC) or ability to obtain it.
Desirable:
* Certification in Aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS).
* Certification as an Aviation Auditor or Lead Auditor.
* Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
* Extensive experience in compliance, investigation, or audit roles within an aviation maintenance environment.
Additional requirements
* Due to the nature of this position you will require DBS Security Clearance and be eligible for SC clearance.
* Applicants must meet any/all requirements of Export Compliance Regulations.
