Your Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Shift Miller at our Avonmouth site. The main purpose of the role is to Manage the shift to ensure the mill runs at optimum performance for extraction and tonnes per hour to achieving the required product quality and specification. To comply with all Site and company Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures; ensuring that all within the operation have the correct attitude to safety through active supervision. To work within food safety and hygiene guidelines promoting best practice principles.
Your Responsibilities
1. Commitment to achieve performance goals; for yourself, the team and the site.
2. Set the mill and Screen room machinery to the settings laid down in the Quality Specific System (QSS) or, if not specified, to the setting that produces the most efficient mill output.
3. Identify mechanically failing items of plant. Carry out minor repairs or report major ones to the engineering department.
4. Undertake Milling machinery maintenance – Sifters\\Purifiers and IPM work orders.
5. Identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements for better operational performance.
6. Be the point of contact for Maintenance, Distribution and Tech Centre.
7. Comply with all Site and Company Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures, leading by example.
8. Ensure all food safety compliance requirements are maintained throughout the operation.
9. Ensure that the mill area is controlled and “Clean as you go” and 5s is applied.
10. Ensure that the correct documentation (electronic or paper) is both completed timely and with the required accuracy. This is filed are retained to company guidelines.
11. Inform management of prevailing situation within the mill at operations meetings and other times as appropriate.
12. Instruct and support contractors on site as required.
13. Hand over to the next shift in a proper and clean state and communicate any unusual situations to the next Shift Miller.
14. Support the Second Miller as required.
Your Profile
15. Completion of UK-Millers Flour Milling course.
16. Demonstrable experience on shifts in a flour mill.
17. I.T knowledge; PC Literacy.
18. Mechanical or Electrical knowledge would be advantageous.
19. Supervisory skills.
