Salary: £84,857 + Dependent Upon Experience
Location: Peterborough, UK

Role Summary
The successful applicant for this position will lead the Controls & Software team, with overall responsibility for engine software for IPSD-Medium engines, including core engine, generic industrial, electric power and military applications.
This position offers the opportunity to lead and work with a high performing team, delivering a critical part of some exciting new and existing engine development programmes.
What You Will Do
* Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the controls and software development needs of all customer programs.
* Manage the team of engineers working on controls and software development to meet identified needs.
* Provide strong and effective leadership for the Controls and Software team.
* Scope of responsibilities to include performance management and development, career progression, and pastoral care.
* Work with process partner teams to understand program requirements and resource requirements.
* Assign resources within the team, determining any gaps vs budget and undertaking recruitment.
* Work with peers in other locations to manage overall delivery.
* Seek out and develop opportunities to execute activity in other locations.
* Identify process improvement opportunities and lead the team in applying lean principles.
* Support the Engineering Director with the overall running of the team.

Qualifications & Experience Required:
Essential:
* Significant people leadership skills with a proven track record of supervising a technical team.
* Strong technical background (good technical degree preferred in mechanical, electronic, electrical, control systems or automotive engineering).
* Experience of processes for model-based software design and development.
* Ability to understand customer requirements and program plans.
* Knowledge of functional safety, software FMEA, verification and validation processes.
* Excellent communications skills.
Desirable:
* Good understanding of control systems development.
* Experience of industry standard software processes.
* Experience of the deployment of SiL and HiL for software verification.
