TEACHING ASSISTANT – LEVEL 4

Role Overview: St Woolos Primary School is seeking a dedicated and motivated Teaching Assistant (Level 4) to support our vibrant school community in nurturing the academic and personal growth of our children. Aspirational, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive. We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and well qualified individual to become a key member of the school team. The role will involve working under the guidance of teaching staff and members of the School Leadership Team in order to provide the very best learning for our children.
To complement the professional work of the teacher by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning for individuals/groups or short term for whole classes and monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on students’ achievement, progress and development. The role could mean working across the school in all age phases so being flexible and adaptable is an essential part of the role.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Support classroom teachers in planning, delivering and assessing engaging and effective lessons, working with small groups, individual pupils and whole class cover.
• Assist in the implementation of differentiated activities and interventions to meet the needs of all learners.
• Promote an inclusive environment where every pupil feels valued, respected, and motivated to succeed.
• Contribute to the development of the school’s ethos, working towards the 4 purposes of the curriculum: ambitious, capable learners; enterprising, creative contributors; ethical, informed citizens; healthy, confident individuals.
• Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, kindness, fairness, and aspiration in line with our school values.
• Support pupils’ social and emotional development, building positive relationships with both pupils and staff.
• Assist in the assessment of pupils’ progress and contribute to individual learning plans.
Key Personal Specifications:
• Qualifications: A Level 4 qualification is desirable in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
• Experience: Experience working in a school environment, particularly supporting students with diverse learning needs, is essential.
• Commitment to the Curriculum: A commitment to promoting the Four Purposes of the curriculum, ensuring that every pupil is supported to thrive and grow both academically and personally.
• Positive Relationships: Ability to form strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. You will be a role model for our school values – Kind, Fair, Curious, and Aspirational.
• Flexibility: Ability to work across all age phases and adapt to changing circumstances and student needs.
• Teamwork: A strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other colleagues, showing initiative and taking responsibility when required.
• Professionalism: An understanding of and commitment to safeguarding and child protection policies and practices. This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Additional Information:
• This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
• Holidays must be taken during school closure periods.
