TÜV SÜD are looking to recruit a Functional Safety Consultant to join our Industrial Products team. In this role, you will have the ability to lead complex functional safety projects. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the evaluation and/or design of safety-related systems according to the requirements of IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 13849.
This is a home based role, with a requirement to travel to customer locations across the UK as required. Occasional visits may also be required to the Barnsley TUV SUD office.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical advice with respect to all aspects pertinent to the functional safety standards.
2. Ensure the technical quality of Functional Safety services delivered to clients.
3. Preparing and executing services to fee paying clients for Functional Safety activities and providing deliverables on time and in budget.
4. When required perform Functional Safety services at client sites, be that national or international.
5. Aid and support to Technical Advisors within the Machinery Team for Functional Safety services.
6. Support the Chief Engineer in the development of Functional Safety competence of Machinery Technical Advisors.
7. Deliver functional safety training.
8. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the IEC 61508, IEC 62061 and ISO 13849 safety standards.
9. Knowledge of Functional Safety Management.
10. Knowledge regarding techniques and measures to control and avoid systematic errors in both hardware and software.
11. Knowledge in the process of defining, documenting, and maintaining requirements in the engineering design process.
12. Knowledge of the SW development lifecycle and development models.
13. Clear understanding of hardware design and its application.
14. Comprehensive ability for PL and SIL calculation methods.
15. Experience in planning and execution of verification based on analysis and testing (including, for example, fault insertion techniques).
16. Degree comparable to BSc or higher in engineering (e.g., electrical engineering or technical information technology) or science (e.g., physical or mathematical sciences).
17. Strong interpersonal, organisational and customer service skills are a must.
18. A flexible work ethic is essential as the candidate will be required to travel during the week to customer locations, both in and potentially outside of the UK.
19. Excellent IT skills and experience of Microsoft Office.
20. Full UK Driving Licence.
21. Knowledge of ISO 26262.
22. Knowledge of ISO 61511.
23. Knowledge in Programming Languages (e.g. C++, Java).
24. Knowledge in SW test methods (e.g., unit tests, static analysing, etc.).
25. Knowledge in model-based programming (e.g., Mathlab Simulink).
