About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Highway Control Team at Leicestershire County Council; the Environmental and Preventative Team are looking to appoint a Technician working in drainage maintenance.
The successful applicant will join a motivated, friendly team of professionals and as a Technician you will carry out on site scheduled inspections of road drainage assets, support members of the team carrying out drainage investigations and surveys, produce maps and information using relevant software, order works for repairs to the drainage network. The role will include an element of lone working on highway sites whilst surveying and the successful candidate will also need to be physically fit to provide walked inspections - in all weather conditions.

The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours at various locations across the county therefore you must be able to travel to locations across the County as required.
About You
To apply for this post, you must have:
* NVQ3 or equivalent, i.e. BTEC in Civil Engineering or A-Levels A-C in relevant subjects, along with extensive demonstrable experience OR demonstrable evidence of the skills and experience as outlined in the person specification, together with a commitment to attain the essential qualifications.
* Experience of accurately capturing, storing and retrieving information to meet customer and organisational needs.
* Experience of using IT in a design office/ business environment including Microsoft Office or equivalent software, of interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports and be able to interpret maps, plans and engineering drawings and have experience of providing technical advice or drawings.
* Experience of engaging with customers, including attending and producing materials for meetings and exhibitions.
* Good verbal and written communication skills, good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work and IT skills, including the ability to learn the use of service specific systems and software.
* Experience of working in an engineering setting is preferable, including design, management, maintenance, legislation or administrative processes in relation to highways infrastructure.
