This is a rare Trainee Licensed Graphics & Apparel Design position within the design studio of a respected manufacturer of children’s and adult licensed apparel. We’re looking for a creative who will thrive in a busy department, collaborating, supporting and learning from the team, and who will relish working with an exciting range of licenses for a mix of fashion, high volume and online retailers.
Trainee Designer – The Job Outline
Within this position you will learn all stages of licensed product design; through garment construction, print and fabric finishes, branding and packaging design.
* Assist the team with the creation of original design ideas, concepts, fabrications and seasonal themes for childrens’ & adults multi-apparel ranges (with licensed / original graphics).
* Print, graphics, CAD and presentation boards.
* Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and consumer preferences.
* Create accurate artwork, with attention to detail and colour reduction where necessary.
* Develop a knowledge and practical experience of the licensed approval process.
* Develop a commercial understanding of critical path process, expectations and timelines from start to finish.
* Work closely with internal teams and external suppliers.
Trainee Designer – Skills & Experience
* Ideal candidate will have practical industry /internship experience.
* Educated to degree level in textiles, or fashion related graphic / print design.
* You will need to have an excellent eye for print/pattern. The ability to develop and manipulate graphics, prints, slogans, embellishments and has some understanding of print techniques.
* Attentive to detail with ability to think creatively.
* Proficient in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop (Mac) is essential.
* Quick to learn and apply new skills.
* Good organisational skills.
* A collaborative work colleague, and able to deal with challenges with a good sense of humour!

Based full time from the company’s Head Office on the Derbyshire/Leicestershire border. Applicants must be able to drive/have access to owned transport, or be within a reasonable commutable distance from the office as public transport is limited
