Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Sorting and Booking in Histology samples
* Tissue transfer
* Assisting pathologists and expert BMS dissectors at dissection
* Embedding tissue blocks
* Providing support, housekeeping and stock control for Cellular pathology.
* Retrieving material for MDTs
* Liaising with network hospitals to ensure that cancer patients in the network receive excellent care when transferred into LTH for their cancer treatment.
* Sending out tests to expert test centres to support genomic and companion diagnostics to allow personalised medicine for our cancer patients.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
* NVQ level 3 (science) or equivalent qualification / experience
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
* Previous experience in clerical/admin work (filing, data entry, LIMS) in Pathology/laboratory
* Have working knowledge of Cellular Pathology laboratory areas including both practical and theoretical knowledge of the various methods employed
* Experience of working with data protection and confidentiality
* Evidence of substantial training & development within a Cellular Pathology laboratory
Desirable criteria
* Previous experience of working in a healthcare or related setting
* Knowledge of common IT programmes such as Word & Excel
