Location: University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham UK
Full time starting salary is normally in the range £35,880 to £45,163 with potential progression once in post to £47,874
Grade: 7
Full Time, Fixed Term contract up to March 2026

This role is also open as an internal secondment opportunity which would need to be agreed by your current line manager.

Role Summary
Finance is on a transformational journey; we’re working towards the objectives of our Finance 2030 strategy. The post holder for this role will support the vision and delivery of the communication and engagement strategic theme.
* Lead on the communications strategy for Finance, both internally and externally.
* Provide professional, expert communications advice and support across the Finance function.
* Develop policies, processes, and templates to enhance stakeholder engagement.
Main Duties
* Provide communication advice to the Finance team, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines.
* Develop and improve internal and external communications strategies.
* Maintain communication and engagement performance indicators.
* Implement and embed University brand guidelines.
* Take editorial responsibility for Finance information on relevant platforms.
* Develop and deliver training to empower colleagues as effective communicators.
* Lead and manage Finance communication and engagement events.
* Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.
* Lead on crisis communications.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
* Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) with relevant practical experience.
* Relevant communications or Public Relations certification.
* Substantial practical experience of communication methodologies.
* Experience of leading events with proficient project management skills.
Skills, abilities, competencies
* Excellent communication skills and copywriting ability.
* Excellent IT skills, including digital communication tools.
* Well-developed organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work effectively both autonomously and collaboratively.

The role is a key communication and engagement role for Finance and will have a range of internal and external stakeholders, including:
* Internal members of Finance and University communication teams.
* University-wide stakeholders at all levels.
* Some external stakeholders.
