Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, this position is responsible for supporting the operations team from a technical and troubleshooting perspective. The role consists of analyzing process data, making recommendations, and championing positive change in the process. The role also includes helping to spearhead problem solving, data interpretation, and Paper Mill production team interaction at all three Paper Mill sites. The incumbent will also provide technical support to the Operations group through process analysis, planning, optimization initiatives and be based out of the Scarborough location.
Responsibilities:
1. Analyze, recommend, and champion process improvements at the Mills
2. Embed themselves in operations
3. Focus on large scale initiatives as a technical consultant with a get-it-done attitude
4. Interact with Paper Mill production, maintenance, and E&I teams at floor level daily to facilitate process improvements, quality initiatives, and other joint projects within the Paper Mill division
5. Develop and train on SOPs, supporting operations to promote consistency between shifts
6. Work with the Continuous Improvement team to help push key projects forward
7. Focus on key issues, perform root cause analysis, and create action plans to follow through
8. Backfill engineering support onsite when site engineers are on vacation or ill
Qualifications:
1. Engineering degree from a recognized university in mechanical, chemical, industrial engineering, or a relevant field
2. 5+ years of experience as an engineer is an asset
3. Engineering management experience is an asset
4. Experience with control systems
5. Paper Mill experience is an asset
6. Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Access, Power BI, PI Vision, DCS/PLC systems, and AutoCAD
7. Excellent written and oral communication skills
