Role Description
Asset Care Manager
Location: Long Sutton
The Asset Care Manager is responsible for developing and executing the asset care strategy to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and longevity of equipment and facilities within a fast-paced FMCG production environment. This role involves leading maintenance activities, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and fostering a culture of reliability and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Asset Management & Maintenance
1. Develop, implement, and manage the asset care plan, including preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
2. Ensure all machinery and equipment are operating at optimal efficiency to minimize downtime.
3. Establish and maintain an asset management database, including life-cycle planning, performance tracking, and cost analysis.
4. Manage and delegate responsibilities across engineering, site services and outage work.
Leadership & Team Development
1. Lead, coach, and develop the maintenance team to deliver high standards of performance and safety.
2. Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages problem-solving and innovation.
3. Provide training and upskilling opportunities for team members to meet evolving technology and operational demands.
4. Drive the engineering culture and ownership at factory floor level engaging with a positive approach.
5. Ability to delegate while still seeing tasks through to completion.
6. Resilience to high pressure high demand department leading from the front.
7. Feeling confident in delegating and following through with necessary actions if required.
8. People manager able to speak openly of issue / problems with shift coordinators and engineering staff.
Compliance & Safety
1. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
2. Develop and maintain risk assessment and safety protocols for all asset-related activities.
3. Lead audits and inspections related to asset care and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
Continuous Improvement
1. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and overall plant performance.
2. Utilize data analytics and KPIs to identify trends, predict failures, and implement corrective actions.
3. Collaborate with production teams to align asset care strategies with operational goals.
Budget Management
1. Manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while achieving performance targets.
2. Prepare reports and recommendations for capital investment in equipment and infrastructure upgrades.
Role Requirements
Essential:
1. Proven experience in asset management or maintenance leadership within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
2. Strong knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance practices and tools.
3. Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
4. Sound understanding of health and safety standards and compliance requirements.
5. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
1. Previous experience in a similar role.
2. Continuous improvement methodologies.
3. Experience with sustainability initiatives or energy-efficient equipment management.
4. Ability to deliver ideas and have character to challenge at all levels.
