Job Description
Resourcing Group are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Dayshift) reporting to the Mechanical Supervisors. The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer is part of a larger site-based team. The post holder will be involved with the maintenance and minor works service covering all mechanical equipment throughout the Hospital, comprising:
1. Heating equipment (pumps, control valves, radiators)
2. Ventilation equipment (fans, heating/cooling coils, humidification)
3. Domestic hot water equipment (calorifiers, safety devices)
4. Compressors and manifolds for medical gases
5. Building Management System control equipment
Work involves the use of analytical test devices, specialist tools, workshop fixed equipment, portable electrical equipment, emergency generators, and medical gas equipment (patient use) such as suction units and geared drives. The post holder will be responsible for carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) works to meet completion dates of the relevant KPIs.
Establish and maintain effective business relationships with all key stakeholders, customers, partners, contractors, and other third parties to deliver best practice services. Compliance with all statutory requirements in relation to safe working practices and the safe operation of plant, equipment, and services is essential to meet all relevant Health Technical Memoranda (HTM and SHTM) and Quality Assurance requirements.
Adhere to the site Health & Safety (H&S) Plan and associated Risk Assessments, ensuring that obligations for H&S and any statutory requirements associated with the delivery of the contract are appropriately and fully applied.
IMPACT: The objective of the department is to operate and maintain an optimum environment in which healthcare can be delivered to the patient. The main elements include:
1. Ventilation
2. Water
3. Plumbing
4. Mechanical Services
5. Electrical Services
6. Piped medical gases
7. Steam
This is a critical role, providing essential services within a healthcare environment. The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will work in accordance with the requirements of Health Technical Memoranda (HTM's), including:
1. Medical Gases HTM 2022
2. Water Supplies HTM 2027
3. HTM 2040
4. Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8
5. Ventilation Plant HTM 2025
Additionally, the engineer should be able to price small works.
Responsibilities include:
1. Prompt delivery of maintenance.
2. Assist in ensuring that plant and equipment data and information are delivered accurately and timely to enable Lifecycle Planning.
3. Working with a team of dedicated engineers to ensure the safe and continued operation of the plant and related equipment within the Hospital and University Buildings.
4. Ensure compliance with company, contract, and local operating procedures, maintaining a standardized approach to the Client's service delivery model.
5. Undertake fault finding on complex medical gas systems, MTHW / LTHW heating systems, critical HVAC systems, and pressurized steam systems.
6. Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, commissioning, and testing in accordance with published procedures, completing all report sheets as necessary.
Use all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works, ensuring full compliance with Client's Guidelines and Controls, e.g., Risk Assessment, Site Safety, Fire Safety, Control of Infection, and Hazardous Substances.
