SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity

We are proud to be working closely with a dedicated SEN school to find an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for those passionate about making a meaningful impact on the lives of students with varying needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), and ADHD.
- Provide Tailored Support: Help ensure students with SEN have full access to the curriculum, adapting resources to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate on Lesson Planning: Assist the class teacher in planning and preparing lessons, tailoring activities to the needs of each pupil.
- Work with a Multi-Disciplinary Team: Liaise with SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies to provide holistic support for students.
- Encourage Positive Behaviour: Use positive behaviour management techniques and implement individual plans to support emotional and social development.
- Monitor and Report Progress: Record and communicate student progress, supporting the development of individual education plans (IEPs).
- Support with Personal Care: Provide personal care when required, ensuring the dignity and respect of each pupil.
- Promote Inclusion: Participate in school-wide activities and initiatives, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.
- Full-Time Availability: This role requires full-time commitment during term time only.
- SEN Experience: A minimum of 6 months of experience working with SEN students, particularly those with SEMH, ASD, or ADHD.
- Behaviour Management: Skilled in using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement to manage challenging behaviour.
- DBS: A DBS on the update service, or a willingness to obtain one, is essential.
- Empathetic and Patient: Able to build supportive, trusting relationships with students.
- Adaptable: Flexible and willing to adjust approaches to meet diverse student needs.
- Passionate About SEN: A commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young people with special educational needs.
