Wood Transmission and Distribution is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our growing business! As a leading provider of engineering and construction services to the UK transmission and distribution sector, we are at the forefront of net zero 2050 with a secured workstream for years to come. The Commercial Manager opportunity provides flexibility as a hybrid role, working between home, site, and ideally our Glasgow office.
This role is perfect for a highly experienced Commercial Manager from a transmission & distribution background although not essential. With consolidated experience of delivering large EPC, you will be independent and proactive in your approach with strong leadership and negotiation skills. The successful candidate will be experienced commercially in managing large projects and will be assigned to a contract with SSE who are a client.
You will be managing the commercial delivery of Transmission and Distribution Ltd’s largest EPC contract on a target cost model ensuring performance and returns for Wood. Overseeing a team of commercial reports undertaking the day-to-day activity of commercial administration is also key to the role. You will be responsible for managing revenue and entitlement on an open book basis, managing the estimating of the construction phase and long-lead procurement orders whilst driving delivery strategy. You will enjoy the challenges of delivering project target EBIT, addressing unexpected events, and managing within budgets. Developing commercial strategy for the delivery of scopes is also key.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support our growing workload and contribute to the increased network capacity required to deliver the UK government's pathway to 2030 and the transition to net zero. Qualifications:
8. Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, or Business Studies, along with appropriate professional qualification (preferred).
Knowledge, skills, and experience:
9. Substantial experience in a similar role with consolidated leadership/management experience ideally gained within Transmission and Distribution sector although not essential.
10. Proven experience in contract administration including change management.
11. Awareness of all relevant corporate and project procedures.
12. Experience in claims & dispute resolution (pre- and post-litigation experience preferred).
13. Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, and presentation.
14. The ability to communicate complex principles effectively at all levels within the organization.
15. Ability to demonstrate teamwork, respect, integrity, innovation, and a client-driven approach.
16. Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplines at all levels of the business with a practical, hands-on approach.
