Job Summary:
The Deputy Finance Business Partner plays a crucial role in financial monitoring, performance management, and strategic planning for the Trust. This role supports financial decision-making, ensures compliance with NHS financial policies, and provides expert financial advice to senior managers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Produce and analyse financial reports, forecasts, and variance analysis.
2. Ensure accurate financial monitoring, including tracking Cost Improvement Programmes (CIPs).
3. Provide financial insights for external reporting to healthcare regulators.
Financial Performance Management:
1. Develop and implement financial performance management systems.
2. Challenge and hold senior managers accountable for financial outcomes.
3. Support the Division with financial strategy, planning, and budget-setting.
Budgeting & Financial Planning:
1. Lead on budget-setting processes, ensuring alignment with Trust objectives.
2. Identify cost pressures and efficiency savings.
3. Support financial planning for capital developments and investments.
Strategic Financial Support:
1. Contribute to long-term financial planning, business case development, and investment appraisals.
2. Advise on cost control, procurement efficiency, and service pricing strategies.
3. Assist in developing financial strategies that align with operational objectives.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:
1. Deputise for the Finance Business Partner in meetings and key financial discussions.
2. Provide expert financial advice to senior management and clinical divisions.
3. Train and develop finance team members, ensuring high standards of financial governance.
Skills & Experience Required:
1. CCAB finalist or equivalent experience in financial management.
2. Strong knowledge of NHS financial policies and public sector accounting.
3. Advanced proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
4. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
5. Experience managing finance staff and leading financial planning initiatives.
Additional Information:
1. The role requires working with financial systems such as Oracle, SAP, and Excel.
2. Candidates should be highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working under pressure.
3. Occasional travel and flexibility in working hours may be required.
