The Children, Families and Education Directorate is primarily focused on delivering its statutory duties as well as a range of high-quality traded services. This role will sit within the Inclusion Service, which is comprised of the SEND Team, the Virtual School, the Educational Psychology Service, and others. Portsmouth is a lead authority in the SEND&AP Change Programme working with partners across the region. We are looking at recruiting a Consultant Leader or SEND practitioner from either maintained schools or academies to support and develop high-quality inclusive practice across all phases of education. You will provide challenge and support to schools to deliver on the principles of inclusion. You will drive delivery and provide quality assurance and expertise. You will promote and influence positive behaviour and inclusion across Portsmouth schools, providing training, maintaining good relationships, and promoting excellence and compliance with statutory requirements. What you'll need to succeed: You have Qualified Teacher Status and recent and successful SENCO and Inclusion leadership experience. You have expert knowledge and experience leading to success in raising standards and securing effective inclusive practice, and practical experience of supporting practitioners to develop high-quality inclusive practice. You have successful experience of managing, motivating and challenging other skilled professionals, and of delivering professional development. You have high-level interpersonal and communication skills, are flexible, and can work to tight deadlines. You will need to demonstrate that you have the Right to Work in the UK.
