About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Service Owner with proven expertise in delivering and managing services within the UK Government context. This is a critical role responsible for overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of a service, ensuring it meets user needs, aligns with organisational goals, and complies with government standards and policies.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the continuous improvement of the service, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring value for money.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Ownership:
* Act as the single point of accountability for the delivery, performance, and quality of the service.
* Define and communicate the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the service.
Stakeholder Engagement:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior government officials and third-party suppliers.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organisational and user needs.
Service Delivery and Performance:
* Oversee the operational delivery of the service, ensuring it meets agreed-upon performance metrics and service levels.
* Monitor and manage risks, issues, and dependencies related to the service.
Continuous Improvement:
* Lead the development and implementation of service improvements, leveraging user feedback and data insights.
* Champion innovation and best practices in service delivery.
Governance and Compliance:
* Ensure the service complies with UK Government policies, standards, and regulations, including the Technology Code of Practice and Service Standard.
* Manage budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial controls.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience in a Service Owner or equivalent role, within a UK Government setting.
* Strong knowledge of Government frameworks, policies, and standards (e.g., Service Standard, GDS principles, and the Technology Code of Practice).
* Demonstrable experience in leading the development, delivery, and management of user-centric services.
* Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
* Proficiency in managing service performance, budgets, and risks.
* Experience with agile and iterative delivery methodologies.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
