Role Overview
Rapid7 is seeking talented students to join our Enterprise teams in Belfast for their placement year. A key to our success has been our placement programme. In this role you will gain invaluable experience in what it takes to manage and build successful systems for us to operate efficiently.
As a Systems Architecture Intern at Rapid7 you may:
1. Assist in designing and documenting system architectures, including business processes, technology, and data components.
2. Collaborate with senior architects and IT teams to understand system requirements, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement.
3. Help develop system integration strategies, ensuring that various components (e.g., databases, applications) function cohesively.
4. Support the evaluation of existing IT systems to recommend changes or improvements for scalability, performance, and security.
5. Participate in the creation of technical documentation, diagrams, and flowcharts that outline the system architecture.
6. Conduct research on emerging technologies and trends in system design to inform decision-making.
7. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between business requirements and technical solutions.
8. Assist in the development of system performance benchmarks, conducting tests and analyzing results to ensure optimal functionality.
9. Participate in project meetings to provide technical insights and contribute to system architecture discussions.

13. We are a hybrid working model at Rapid7 however, we encourage our students to be in the office as much as possible to help their development and build their network. Every team varies on working hours/model but you will be able to discuss this with your manager.
Successful candidates will be:
14. Currently enrolled at one of our partner Universities and in your 2nd year studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline displaying a strong academic record and seeking a 12 month placement opportunity (June 2025 - End of May 2026)
15. Currently residing in Northern Ireland and have the Right to Work within the UK
16. Familiar with business architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) and business modeling techniques (e.g., BPMN).
17. Familiar with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and business process management, and/or with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems or customer relationship management (CRM) tools.
18. Familiar with digital transformation, customer experience (CX) strategies, and data analytics with an interest in business strategy, process optimization, and organizational design.
19. Excellent problem solvers
20. Able to display strong communication skills both within the team and cross functionally
21. Collaborative team player who has the ability to partner with others and drive toward solutions
