The Opportunity:
Avantor is seeking a Junior Procurement Associate to join our team based in Cambridge. In this role, you'll take ownership of supporting scientists from the procurement side of science, ensuring that they have the materials and equipment needed for their work.
This is a part-time, temporary position - you'll be working 18.75 hours a week on a 9-month fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in the laboratory who wants to transition from hands-on science work to an office/admin-based environment. Alternatively, if you have some experience in procurement and are eager to expand your skills in a supportive, multinational setting, this could be the perfect fit for you.
This role will be a part-time temporary (9 months) position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge (moving to a hybrid/work from home model after training). Next to an attractive salary, we offer multiple benefits such as pension scheme, private medical and dental care, and an additional day off for your birthday.
The team
You'll join a team of 4-5 Buyers and their Team Leader. They are an excellent team, supporting each other and having catch-ups daily. The Team is working from home, and you will too; however, we need you at the office during your training. You'll belong to our business department Lab and Product Services, which supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
What we're looking for
* Experience: We will consider candidates from science and procurement environments - you either have knowledge/experience in a laboratory and decided to move to an office-based role or have interest/knowledge of procurement and would like to expand on it in an industry-leading business.
How you'll thrive and create an impact
* Placing orders on behalf of scientists - purchasing consumables, reagents, chemicals as well as laboratory equipment for UK and US.
* Responding to suppliers/end users/clients queries by email.
* Making sure COUPA and Capex systems are updated, as well as documentation and invoice reconciliation.
* Occasional products and suppliers sourcing.
