An opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer (Contract) to join the Motorsport department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. About the role An aerospace project requires support of a design engineer with a strong skillset of mechanical design, ideally in the context of electrification. What you will do Working closely with the Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for developing engineering designs from concept through to manufacture, working within performance, mass, cost, and timing targets. Perform engineering calculations and generate concepts in mechanical, composite, thermal and electrical systems such as Energy Storage. Be responsible for developing 3D CAD models and 2D detail drawings using Siemens NX and Teamcenter. Attend design reviews to present, discuss and critique ideas and to review alternative solutions. Work closely with other departments to ensure cost, manufacturing capability and quality targets are met. Specify, Design and Develop rig and test equipment Generate and present project material to customers and key internal / external stakeholders as required. Adopt issue diagnosis and rectification as required. About you A degree (or equivalent) in mechanical, automotive or related engineering discipline expected. Adequate design experience in advanced engineering environments (e.g. motorsport, high performance automotive, aerospace). You will have a good understanding of engineering and be able to adapt to mechanical, composite and electrical systems (such as energy storage) as required. Proficient in Siemens NX and Teamcenter. Good working knowledge of proprietary PC software e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Work with a level of independence, respond quickly to issues and to maintain departmental standards. Good communications skills are essential as you will interact with a variety of departments and suppliers What is in it for you?
