We’ve got a fantastic Commercial Finance Manager opportunity, responsible for driving performance improvement across the business. Working closely with the business, supporting the strategic direction, decision making and insight into commercial performance.
We are a values-led organisation. As such we encourage everyone to be open and honest. We work creatively and collaboratively, valuing everyone’s input. Our collaborative culture, the size of our business and our belief in the empowerment of the individual means opportunities at Asda are abundant.
In the Finance team at Asda the focus of a finance manager is to drive the performance of the business unit that you partner, using available tools and data to develop actionable insight, and using that insight to drive change. You play a key role in ensuring we deliver the operational plans and the P&L targets, ensuring monthly performance is understood and acted upon, and influencing stakeholders to address risks and opportunities and make a real difference to business performance.
Your Role:
1. Partner with the business leadership team to surface value-add ideas, understand risks & opportunities, and rigorously challenge mitigation and action planning.
2. Manage the long-range, in-year, and short-term planning process for revenue and costs, incorporating the latest information into a robust outlook and ensuring alignment with our corporate financial and strategic plans.
3. Value-add analysis: In collaboration with the finance analysts and the data and analytics team, you'll turn insights into actions to identify value-add opportunities.
4. Investment Appraisal: Lead the assessment of projects that redefine our store operations, driving cost efficiency and elevating our customer proposition.
5. Own the month-end performance narrative, ensuring performance is understood and necessary future actions are in place.
6. Working with senior finance and non-finance stakeholders, you'll help make complex financial concepts easily understood and actionable.
7. Play an active role within the wider finance community.
Let's find out about you:
1. You’re obsessed about the Asda Customer and can demonstrate an understanding of the customer across different channels & formats.
2. You’re proactive and curious – challenging the status quo and capable of driving change.
3. You’re an excellent collaborator, able to communicate complex matters simply and effectively and build effective relationships to influence senior stakeholders.
4. You’re passionate about your own performance and Asda’s – willing to take ownership and be accountable for delivering your piece of the puzzle.
5. You’re resilient to change and embrace positively with a continuous improvement mindset.
6. You want to understand the business, the market and know what will make a difference commercially.
7. Relevant Profession level Finance or Business qualification preferred.
Our hybrid way of working gives you the choice to work where it works. This enables you to choose where you’ll be the most effective. It offers a mix of working from home and in an office environment that works best for you and your team.
You will also get an excellent benefits package including:
* Discretionary company bonus
* £5,700 company car or car allowance
* Company pension up to 7% matched
