Job overview
The post holder will review patients under the Salford Home Based Treatment Team both at Meadowbrook Unit and at their home addresses. These patients would have had their initial assessments by mental health practitioners within the HBTT before the medical review. The purpose of the medical review will be to establish provisional diagnosis and advice on treatment plan.
Main duties of the job
Clinical role
1. Undertake assessments of referrals/ admissions to the service
2. Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations.
3. Provide management in treatment resistant and complex presentations
4. Assessment and management of risk including of vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety and risk of harm to others.
5. Preparation of Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers’ Hearings reports and attendance at subsequent hearings.
6. Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.
7. Work in partnership with psychiatrists from partner providers such as Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatrists.
Leadership role
8. Lead clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high quality care
9. Develop service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards
10. Engage with service transformation programmes including attendance at Consultant meetings for their service and directorate.
Educational role
11. Provide clinical supervision for trainees in gaining core psychiatric experience
12. Provide clinical supervision for psychiatric trainees in achieving competencies in core general psychiatry
