Senior Installation Engineer vacancy in Basingstoke (009jc)
Senior Installation Engineer (009jc) – Basingstoke – up to £48k + Generous Package
My client, who is a provider of rapidly deployable protection and surveillance solutions to over 20 nations around the globe, is now seeking to recruit a Senior Installation Engineer to join their expanding team.
You will be working with customers across UK government and mainly in the maritime engineering environment. You will ensure that the highest engineering standards are adhered to, adopt a professional image, and maintain a high regard for customer support while always acting as an ambassador for the company.
A flexible approach to work is essential due to work being carried out over many sites in the United Kingdom and, at times, other countries. Working with the team to plan and execute work in an effective and efficient manner and within agreed service level requirements is crucial. You must also be prepared to respond to customers' often short notice directives.
Therefore, your responsibilities will consist of:
1. Assisting the Installation Manager with project management and task management of support and installation requirements.
2. Attending surveys and meetings with the Installation Manager to ensure that programme, technical, and interface requirements are fully understood for future implementation.
3. Liaising closely with customers and shipyard authorities.
4. Working with sub-contractors.
5. Imparting system knowledge and understanding to end users, including delivering basic training courses.
6. Maintaining a flexible approach to work.
As well in general:
1. Driving Company vehicles (vans and cars) within the constraints of current motoring law.
2. Maintaining awareness of ISO9001 standards and company operating procedures.
3. Working together for the mutual benefit of the Company and ensuring your own health and safety and that of others in the vicinity.
4. Providing support for other projects within the business.
5. Being prepared to spend time away from home and work weekends.
My client is seeking a committed and professional individual with:
1. The ability to understand system level engineering challenges involved with installations on Maritime vessels.
2. Experience in the supervisory management of engineering issues in a fast-paced environment.
3. Previous experience with the MoD is highly desirable.
4. Understanding of MoD (Royal Navy) engineering standards, ship engineering and safety procedures, and general dockyard safety procedures and protocols.
5. CBRN experience preferred but not essential.
6. A background knowledge of RF, Fibre optics, and data cables and associated terminations and testing.
7. Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces.
8. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project applications.
9. Full UK driving licence.
10. Willingness to travel in the UK and overseas. Passport required – at least 6 months validity at all times.
Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to hold or currently hold DV Clearance, and any full-time offer will be subject to achieving this level of clearance.
The ideal candidate for this role would probably be a Royal Navy SNCO coming from an engineering background who has knowledge and experience of comms installation on board vessels within the RN Fleet.
In return, they are offering a good starting salary circa £45 – 48k, with 27 days holiday entitlement (excluding public holidays) rising to 29 after 5 years’ service, cycle to Work Scheme as well as an Electric Car Scheme. Company Pension, access to medical care and wellbeing support via company health benefit programmes for you and direct family members, as well as free onsite parking.
