Job Overview
We are looking for a junior buyer who will be supported one to one with the current buyer within our offices in East Kilbride. Helping to supply materials and services for the company’s projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to build a career in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management.
We would like to offer, after the initial 4-week trial period, and if the candidate is successful, an introduction to a buying apprenticeship which would allow them to further their career in this field.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Key Tasks
* Learning the day-to-day duties of a buyer in the contracts department, which will consist of helping to keep the department functional and assisting the buyer.
* Answering phones and communicating with suppliers, colleagues, buyers, and customers.
* Using computers, researching materials, comparing prices, etc. All full training will be given.
* The buyer will train the candidate one to one, and the candidate will not be left unattended during this learning period.
* Over a timescale, we will expect the junior to build confidence and take the position as their own.
* Working closely with project and site managers as well as other members of the team.
* A positive and proactive attitude towards work.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills.
* Willingness to learn and take instruction.
* Punctual and reliable.
* Adherence to health and safety processes and policies.
