Apprentice Vehicle Technician - Newport
This role is based at our Newport Depot and will require commitment to formal qualifications at an approved training provider, supported in full-time employment with us.
As one of our Apprentices, you will undertake a range of tasks and a programme of study, in line with the Company Apprenticeship Scheme. This will lead to a Nationally recognised Automotive qualification and becoming a fully qualified Vehicle Technician upon completion.
Your training will be delivered via a government approved Apprenticeship provider local to our Newport Depot and will consist of on-the-job learning and face-to-face block release tuition at a state-of-the-art training centre or College.
Alongside your training, you will have the advantage of working within an experienced team of people who will share their knowledge and skills with you, whilst helping you to start a successful career in the Automotive industry.
We have an already established team of apprentices in Newport to develop likeminded relationships with and learn alongside. This is an extremely exciting opportunity to become a key part of the developing business.
Key responsibilities:
* Carrying out foundation tasks common to all service and repair procedures
* Accessing information such as diagrams, technical data, and vehicle repair information
* Learning to use specific diagnostic, mechanical, and electrical measuring equipment.
* Inspecting and preparing vehicles to identify quality standards.
* Removing, repairing/replacing components to manufacturer’s specification
* Investigating vehicle faults and identifying their underlying causes
* Learning to apply advanced diagnostic principles, and logical problem-solving techniques, using diagnostic tools, and standard testing regimes, to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
* Liaising with mentors and supervisors to carry out & complete any manual tasks and academic coursework key to course content.
* Working safely and organised while completing various workshop-based tasks.
* Carrying out general housekeeping duties in the workshop as part of the team.
* Full and pro-active commitment to the academic modules that form part of the apprenticeship.

Ideally, entry requirements for the apprenticeship course are GCSE level 3 in both Maths and English; however, this is not imperative to successful appointment as alternative arrangements can be made.
