Kelburn Recovery Centre provides residential addiction and mental health treatment that combines Indigenous and western evidence-based practices in a progressive 42-day program. Our 12-bed facility is located on 40 acres of property surrounded by trees, walking trails, and a 9-hole golf course. Treatment services include in-house medically assisted detox, comprehensive after-care planning and support as well as continuous therapeutic family education.
The Addiction’s Counsellor is an integral part of the therapeutic team, providing group programming and addiction recovery support for clients in residence. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals who are interested in learning and growing in the field of recovery treatment modalities.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
1. Develop and facilitate daily addiction recovery-based groups
2. Facilitate assessments using online software and make sound recommendations based on results
3. Develop post-treatment recovery plans to ensure supports are in place upon completing treatment
4. Maintain regular contact with other agencies/professionals regarding client progress and resource opportunities
5. Consult with clinical team regarding client progress and treatment approach and make amendments as required
6. Provide referrals to programs for continuing recovery in community
7. Maintain up-to-date documentation including counselling notes, progress reports, etc.
Credentials include:
1. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in the field of counselling, therapy, mental health, psychology or a related social service discipline. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
2. Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience in a related field
3. Completion of addiction training programs would be an asset
4. Experience or education in mindfulness-based therapies and mind-body modalities are assets
5. Registration with an appropriate regulatory body (e.g., MSW, RSW, etc.)
6. A valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
Applicants must provide a cover letter that clearly indicates how they satisfy the requirements listed above. Applicants who have lived experience with addiction/mental health or have been in recovery for 2+ years are asked to self-identify in their cover letter as it would be an asset.

Hours: 40 hours a week

Starting Salary: $26-$30 per hour, or commensurate with experience and qualifications.
