A world-leading industrial gases and engineering company require a Shift Manager at their top tier COMAH site at St Helens. Reporting to the Plant Manager you will be responsible for the supervision & control of staff at the production plant to ensure pipeline tonnage / customer demands are met.
The successful candidate will be safety focussed and will be used to working with/on different manufacturing processes. The main aspect of their role that PTW, contractor control, Isolations and LOTO.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supervise, monitor and control plant operations to meet quality and operational requirements in the most efficient manner.
• Taking responsibility for identifying and resolving operational problems of any nature.
• Control and supervise contractor personnel in accordance with site rules and regulations and permit to work requirements.
• Acts as Senior Person on Site for on and off site emergencies, and implement site Emergency Plans as required.
• Lead and manage a shift team, and maintain good relationships with all site personnel.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping whilst contributing to the site safety management system.
• Ensure all site operations are carried out safely, and in accordance with the company and statutory operating and safety standards. Out of hours be responsible for the site on behalf of the management team.
• Contribute fully to all site and business quality, safety and environmental initiatives.
Requirements:
• Suitable candidates ideally will be educated to HNC / NVQ, level 3 or equivalent in an engineering subject.
• Experience of shift team working on a process plant in a position of some responsibility.
• Detailed knowledge of Permit to Work procedures and relevant emergency plans.
• Top tier COMAH site experience
• A broad knowledge of Air Seperation operation or similar plant is desirable.
• Operating experience of hydrogen plant reformers, carbon monoxide installations and associated equipment (an advantage).
• Proficiency in the production of regular management reports and the ability to own and manage issues of an inter-disciplinary nature will be important attributes.
• You must have a high level of personal Integrity.
