A unique opportunity has arisen for someone to join the team as a Buying Manager on Ambient for Scotland.
The successful candidate will source and buy great quality products from our local suppliers across Scotland, ensuring that our local customers have the best offer, range, and prices available. Specifically, you will be responsible for managing the Packaged & Bakery suppliers, working in collaboration with the wider Local Sourcing team and Category teams.
Sourcing local products from Scottish suppliers means that the role will involve travelling around Scotland visiting stores and supplier sites. There will also be travel to other Tesco locations such as our Head Office in Welwyn Garden City as required.
You will be responsible for
* Accountable for delivering the local strategy across the Packaged/Bakery supply base in Scotland, taking inputs from customer insight, channels, and other local stakeholders.
* Deliver the customer-led plan working in partnership with our local supplier partners and aligned to individual category objectives.
* Working with supplier partners, retail leadership teams in the regions, product categories, and local government organizations.
* Negotiate with supplier partners to deliver market-leading product costs and investment.
* Build and source customer/market insight-led ranges and product innovation for your department, making sure you cater for all formats, regions, and affluence levels.
* Conduct regular store and website visits to understand how the ranges have landed in store, keeping abreast of competitor and category developments to inform future range development.
* Support the department’s trade, promotions, and events plan, striving to exceed KPI forecasts and drive footfall.
* Support the Supply Chain Plan, helping get our products in store on time for our customers.
* Operate within all Tesco policies and procedures and adhere to GSCOP regulations.
You will need
* Commercial buying experience
* Range and trade planning experience
* Ability to analyse complex data
* Experience of working in a remote team
* Experience of influencing and negotiation
* Multi-level stakeholder management experience
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint/Word
* An understanding of supplier economics
