As a Field Performance Manager (FPM), you will be joining our Wastewater Network Team who play a vital part in the frontline of our day-to-day operations, focussed on protecting the environment and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality service to our customers.
You will be responsible for managing a team of highly skilled Wastewater Process Operators, to maintain and operate wastewater Pumping Stations within the West Sussex area. The role will give you exposure to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to:
1. Process Operations
2. Mechanical and Electrical Technicians
3. ICA Technicians
4. H&S Advisors
5. The Environment Agency
6. Environmental Health
This extensive range of stakeholders will provide a challenging but rewarding opportunity for an ambitious Field Performance Manager to help us deliver significant environmental improvements and renewable power generation, which is vital for the local community and best value to our customers. No two days are the same; you will enjoy working outdoors, in a fast-paced and high-pressured environment!
Prior experience in the Water Utilities industry, and an understanding of the Wastewater Network process would be advantageous but is not essential. We would welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas. This role has a focus on teamwork, communication, and performance management. If you have a positive can-do attitude, previous experience working as a team player, and the ability to motivate and coach a team, then we would love to hear from you.

Your core responsibilities will be:
1. For the safe and compliant operation and maintenance of wastewater network within the West Sussex area.
2. To build, lead, coach and mentor a competent and effective team to ensure consistency and efficiency of wastewater operations.
3. To undertake high-level monitoring of operational performance and to take action to resolve as necessary.
4. To keep an overview of Health & Safety and ISO14001 requirements within the operational area and ensure that the team comply with the requirements of H&S and the Environmental Management System as set out by Southern Water.
5. To manage events and incidents in own area in and out-of-hours as required.
6. Expected to act as a competent member of the area Field Event Coordinator rota, leading the team during reactive incidents in and out of core hours, gathering information, and completing a plan to recover service safely and at pace.
